Clinical Services- Cardiac

Our highly trained surgeons are experts in all areas of adult cardiac surgery:

          Minimally invasive valve repair and replacement (aortic, mitral, and tricuspid)

Percutaneous aortic valve replacement or TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), a procedure for patients that are not candidates for conventional cardiac surgical procedures due to age, illness, etc.

Repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms (ascending and descending), including debranching procedures, repair of aortic dissections, stent graft repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms or TEVAR (thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair)

          Cardiac transplant

Ventricular assist or VAD (bridge to recovery, bridge to transplant, destination therapy)-Abiomed Impella®, Abiomed AB 5000®, Thoratec HeartMate II®

          Re-operative cardiac surgery

          Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)

          Procedures for the treatment of atrial fibrillation

Clinical Services- Thoracic

Our highly trained surgeons work in conjunction with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) and are experts in all areas of thoracic surgery with particular expertise in minimally invasive approaches to most thoracic pathologies including:

VAT’s – video assisted thoracoscopic surgery used for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (drain fluid around lung, obtain tissue for biopsy) as well as definitive procedures for cancer (lobectomy, bilobectomy – removal of two lobes, pneumonectomy – removal of entire lung)

                    Esophagectomy – removal of esophagus for esophageal cancer

Minimally invasive approaches to benign (non cancerous) esophageal problems including achalasia, gastro-esoophageal reflux, and other motility problems

Treatment of mediastinal tumors including thymoma, germ cell tumors and staging procedures including mediastinoscopy and Chamberlain procedure

Fiberoptic and rigid bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy

Navigational bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound
