The Bioengineering Division is a research, teaching, and professional engineering component of the Department of Surgery. The overall activities of the division include fields of Biomaterials Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Clinical Engineering.

  • Biomedical Engineering -
    • The faculty of the division participate in two teaching programs.
    • The first is a joint graduate program between UMDNJ and Rutgers University leading to masters and doctorate degrees.
    • About 100 graduate students are enrolled in this program which also includes other members of the Department of Surgery faculty.
  • Biomaterials Science -
    • The New Jersey Center for Biomaterials and Medical Devices [CBMD]:
      A cooperative research initiative sponsored by UMDNJ in coordination with:
    • Rutgers University
    • Princeton University
    • NJIT
    • Stevens Institute
