Message from the Chief
Alan M. Graham, M.D.
Professor and Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery
The Division of Vascular Surgery has a rich tradition as the leading vascular center in New Jersey. Norman Rosenberg, M.D., one of the founding fathers of vascular surgery, started the division. Under the direction of Alan M. Graham, M.D., the Vascular Center of New Jersey has become one of the leading vascular centers in the country. Our faculty includes surgeons who are nationally and internationally renowned for their skill and expertise. Additionally, we take pride in being one of the leading fellowship training programs in the country.
The Division of Vascular Surgery has changed significantly since its inception. We have grown into an academic and clinical center of excellence and are now the premiere tertiary care facility for the treatment of vascular disease in the tri-state area. We offer state of the art treatment from the most complicated surgical problems like thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms to the simplest issues, such as varicose veins and spider veins.
The Division of Vascular Surgery shares the mission of the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School to provide excellence in patient care, academics, education, research, and community service. Our vascular center of excellence offers comprehensive, state of the art services for the treatment of all vascular disease processes.
Our clinical services and programs have expanded significantly with the support of the medical school and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. We have an active endovascular program and perform all interventions in our state of the art interventional suite located inside the operating room. We have the ability to treat the most complicated vascular problems, such as mesenteric ischemia, renal-vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease and stroke, and peripheral vascular disease, with either open and endovascular techniques in this interventional room.
The large clinical volume has allowed us to expand our expertise, contain costs, streamline medical and surgical care, and provide our community with the best patient care experience possible. Our goal is to provide personalized, efficient, quality medical and surgical care in an academic setting.
As an academic center, we are constantly reviewing our results, researching and developing new methods of treatment, participating in clinical trials for new medical devices, and changing our approach to patient care as technology improves. We look forward to the opportunity to evaluate and treat you or your loved ones.
