Program Description:

The Surgical Critical Care Service operates a 17-bed Surgical ICU, managed by board-certified/critical care accredited surgeons and anesthesiologists. An additional 10-bed Open Heart ICU is managed by the Cardiac Surgery Service.

There are approximately 800 admissions to the Surgical ICU each year. They are treated with the participation of all the primary care and subspecialty physicians in the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in association with the critical care specialists. The patients receive state-of-the-art intensive care evaluation and treatment.
